Contemporary ceramics made in Rock Hill, NY
Lauren Sandler's functional and sculptural work invokes themes of memory, intimacy, containment, and domesticity. Her pieces demythologize status, inscribe substance in detritus, and amplify interdependence. She explores the vernacular of the vessel in mutable topographies to reveal stories erased. Drawn to the quiet expanse of nature, Lauren makes a home in upstate New York. She holds an MFA in Ceramics from Penn State University, and undergraduate degrees in Anthropology and Ceramics from Ithaca College and SUNY New Paltz. She currently teaches at Skidmore College.
